Welcome to Personal Training Head Quarters. This blog is dedicated to everyone that is starting or want to advance their personal training career. Becoming a Personal Trainer will establish you as an authority in the field of health and fitness and allow you to immediately apply for work or set up on a self employed basis as a Personal Trainer. A personal trainer has the power to touch or even change lives of others, therefore it is a highly rewarding career. In addition it is a possibility to transform your passion for fitness into a source of income. A personal trainer is someone who is working with an individual client or a small group on the specific goals in improving or maintaining level of fitness and overall well being. Personal trainers can work in a variety of settings, e.g. fitness clubs, gyms, hospitals and recreational centers, hotels and offices, and other sports establishments. Personal training sessions also can take place at the client's home as a big percentage of personal fitness trainers choose to set up as self-employed.
A personal trainer job involves creating a fitness program tailored for an individual client, monitor the progress and adjusting it as required. An important part of being a personal trainer is motivating people to keep going and even continue with exercising after the specific goal has been reached. Personal trainers provide their clients with general diet and healthier lifestyle advice (only RD can create a diet program). To become a personal trainer you have to be generally fit as the job involves a lot of physical activity, i.e. demonstrating exercising and use of fitness gear and machinery. Beside being in a good physical shape a personal trainer needs to have sound knowledge in basic anatomy, cardiovascular disease and first aid, diet and exercising, etc. Apart from that you need certain personal qualities to make a good personal trainer. One of the most important features of a successful personal trainer is excellent communication skills. In most cases you will be expected to get your own clients and it will be down to you to persuade them to continue with your training sessions. Beside of being professional at all times you need to be empathetic, understanding and encouraging.
